Artist's Description

This painting is one of the most familiar images in 20th-century American art and one of the most parodied artworks within American popular culture. Here is yet another interpretation for my Amadeus series, with a surfer's touch.
American Gothic is a painting by Grant Wood from 1930.
This particular version by D. Amendola is now hanging on the walls of the First Surfing Federation of India which commissioned this artwork.
This image is under strict copyright to Dominique Amendola.
This painting won the 2nd Place Prize in the contest TRADITIONAL WITH MODERN TAKE.

"Since many of us have a very busy and often stressful life, it is important for me to bring the calming and rejuvenating effect of spiritual paintings into people's lives through my artwork." Dominique Amendola was born in Paris, France. She spent most of her life living in the United States, and India. She has been making a living as a professional artist since 1985. She expressed her first serious interest in art when she was four years old. When she was 17 years old, she studied for 2 years at Atelier Beaudry, in Paris France. Then she studied for 4 years at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs De Paris, France. She took courses that taught her traditional fine art skills, including an in-depth study of the masters:...
