In this painting, you can see the Jagannath Puri temple, with the cart festival in progress in the town of Puri in the province of Orissa. The architecture is ancient and the festival is performed here as it was seen at the end of the 19th century.
The warm tones of the sunrise, as well as the fine details, are the flavor of this artwork. Present-day Jaganath Puri does not look like this anymore (unfortunately). This artwork shows the opulence of India in the past.
This painting was commissioned by an ashram in India.

"Since many of us have a very busy and often stressful life, it is important for me to bring the calming and rejuvenating effect of spiritual paintings into people's lives through my artwork." Dominique Amendola was born in Paris, France. She spent most of her life living in the United States, and India. She has been making a living as a professional artist since 1985. She expressed her first serious interest in art when she was four years old. When she was 17 years old, she studied for 2 years at Atelier Beaudry, in Paris France. Then she studied for 4 years at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs De Paris, France.
