Description
This painting was a commissioned piece. Death has always been a fascinating subject and many religions have given their interpretation of what occurs after death. In this picture, Yama, the king of death, is sitting on his throne, jugging some sinful souls brought to him by his servants, the Yamadutas. The souls are dragged in their subtle bodies by the Yamadutas, the servants of Yamaraja. Yamaraja will then determine what body the soul will receive next. It is said that that subtle ghostly body carries the soul. I used live models for all my characters. And they had the great luck to paint inside a temple room with this throne. So the artwork was mostly done from life. This image is under strict copyright to Dominique Amendola.

Looks like the mad scientist has been condemned to death.
Dominique Amendola replied:
Actually he is dead already in this painting, standing in his subtle body.
