This canvas was painted in Provence, in one of those small villages, in a courtyard called "La Treille". La Treille became famous as the place where writer Marcel Pagnol spent his summer holidays during his childhood at the Bastide Neuve, where he is buried in the cemetery there. It is a very romantic place full of old stones and flowers. In this painting, two rose bushes have climbed towards each other, forming a sort of arch. The style is impressionism, the colors are soothing.

Dominique, this is SO beautiful! It reminds me of the many wooden trellises my pépère made for my mémère with climbing roses of white, light pink, and blood red. He also had sweet pea and clematis. He was a Master carpenter and Master machinist by trade a gardener and artist by hobby and he never wasted ANYthing...turning scraps into Beauty.
